Nice to meet you
ABOUT ME
Shelina Janmohamed has spent two decades asking one question, in every room she's in: what does it take to be you — and to bring your fullest self to the table, whether you're nine years old or leading a global organisation?
She works at the intersection of the individual, society and organisations, coming at it from both directions at once: the lived, human understanding of what people need to flourish, and the strategic expertise to identify the systemic barriers — to equity, and to business growth — that get in their way.
She's the bestselling author of Love in a Headscarf, translated into 14 languages, and Generation M: Young Muslims Changing the World, which named and defined a $3 trillion global consumer audience now referenced across marketing, academia and policy. As Vice President of Ogilvy Noor, the world's first bespoke consultancy for engaging Muslim audiences, she built that recognition into a practice — and is recognised globally as a leading expert on Muslim consumers. As Director of Consumer Equality at Ogilvy, she led the UK's most comprehensive study into ethnicity and consumer experience, then extended that same thinking into health equity — understanding how culture, identity and structural barriers shape people's access to trust, care and services.
She's also a sandwich generation carer of 14 years, a children's author, and a Non-Executive Director at IMPRESS — proof that the same throughline runs through everything: what people need to flourish, and what organisations and systems need to change to let them.

Work with me
Helping people thrive in a workplace reshaped by AI
Shelina helps organisations bring out the best in their people — the judgement, creativity and confidence that make people, and their work, genuinely valuable, at a moment when it's easy to feel uncertain instead.
Understanding growth from the inside out
She brings the same thinking to consumer and audience growth, helping brands understand the full consumer journey — in-store, online, in patient and health settings — and the hidden and visible barriers within it, drawing on her work defining ethnicity and consumer experience and building expertise on Muslim audiences.
Commercial experience, from the individual and the systemic
Her thinking works from two directions at once: the individual, lived understanding of what people need to flourish, and the systemic view of what holds organisations and audiences back — sharpened by commercial experience inside organisations and with clients, governance experience as a Non-Executive Director, and lived experience as a sandwich generation carer. She's a recognised global expert on ethnicity and consumer experience and on Muslim audiences, and brings that same rigour to every engagement — focused on growth, commercial or organisational, while staying human and speaking with a clear, direct voice.
She's worked with some of the world's largest multinationals, from ASOS to Unilever, alongside small rising start-ups; and with organisations and industry bodies including AdAsia, BrandWeek Istanbul, the World Islamic Economic Forum and the British Council.
What working together might look like
In practice, that might mean:
Strategic advisory on consumer growth, ethnicity and consumer experience, or health equity
A keynote or workshop for your leadership team
An ongoing consultancy relationship bringing that thinking into your organisation on culture, change and growth
Author and speaker too
She's also a children's author who runs storytelling and confidence workshops for schools, libraries and festivals — details on the [Author Workshops] page — and a speaker equally at home addressing a school hall or a room of global CEOs, on the [Speaker] page.
