Shelina Janmohamed works with schools, colleges and festivals to help children and young people understand why their own stories matter — and gives them the tools to tell them with confidence.

Every session is tailored to the age group in the room. Shelina has worked with audiences from Reception to Year 13, and often runs different sessions for different year groups on the same school visit.

Who here has a body? Great — then this workshop is for you.
An interactive session helping children build confidence in themselves, understand that opinions about appearance aren't facts, and become "confidence superheroes" for each other. A girls-only version is also available.
Suitable for Years 1–4, adaptable for older students. 30–60 minutes.

The Power of Your Story

Using the British Empire as a lens, students discover how stories shape history — and how children throughout history have driven real social change. Part history, part critical thinking, entirely about helping young people see their own voice as valid.
Suitable for Years 5 and up, adults and mixed audiences. 45–60 minutes with Q&A.

A hands-on session where pupils turn their own memories and experiences into a personal "story map" — the starting point for a piece of creative writing they can keep developing. Often taken as a follow-on to The Power of Your Story.
